No sessions available
What is a STEM lead site?
A preschool or school with a track record of improving learner engagement and achievement in STEM or STEM-related learning areas.
There are currently 7 Lead Sites:
  • Bains Road Preschool
  • Lobethal Community Kindergarten
  • Morphett Vale PS
  • Mount Burr PS
  • Prospect North PS
  • Heathfield HS
  • Wirreanda SS
Dive in with the STEM Lead Learning sites and hear how they:
  • design STEM learning shoulder-to-shoulder with kids
  • develop self-directed questioning techniques
  • leverage learning ‘huddles’ to drive engagement and stretch thinking
  • foster deep learning through nature play
  • enable learners to identify real world problems for rich inquiries
  • foster industry links that build positive STEM dispositions
  • use design thinking to critically and creatively solve real world problems
  • use a community of inquiry approach to inform their STEM learning design processes.
What to expect:
Participants will have two opportunities to learn about the innovative leadership strategies and teaching practices used by Lead Sites:
1. An interactive Carousel keynote providing key insights into each site’s initiative (10 min each);
2. Immersive workshops (participants will be able to choose two workshops after the Carousel keynote).
For those leaders and teachers that wish to explore one of these initiatives in greater depth, there will be an opportunity to register your interest for further professional learning facilitated by the Lead Site in 2018.
